We have grouped both true cypress and false cypress plants together here although they are actually from two different genus; Chamaecyparis and Cupressus. Both are in the Cupressaceae family and display similar characteristics. For ease in this description, we will call both Cypress.

Cypress plants are coniferous, evergreen trees with flattened sprays of scale-like leaves. Plants may be small shrubs or larger trees that work well as specimens or as screening.
