There are several different kinds of phlox. Garden and meadow phlox feature large, showy panicles of fragrant colors in a variety of colors. These species of phlox can grow quite tall and need to be given adequate room for future growth in order to increase air flow and minimize disease.   Creeping phlox is low growing and yes, creep, across the ground, forming large masses perfect as a front border plant.
