Maple
Maple trees are known for their fall color; specific color is species and variety specific as is mature size and leaf shape. We carry many varieties of Acer rubrum, which is popular for its red or orange fall color and fast growth habit. We also carry Sugar maples, which usually have a yellow fall foliage color. Weather plays a role in how vibrant and long lasting fall color is, as well as plant variety, so each year may be somewhat different. Red Maples feature small, red flowers in dense clusters before the trees leaf out, and also red fruit (two-winged samara) and reddish stems, twigs and buds. Maple trees are good shade trees.
