Strawberry Begonias are often used as houseplants, although they may also be used as a perennial groundcover here in central Arkansas.

  • Bright indirect light indoors or in filtered sun to shade in gardens
  • Plant in rich, well-drained soil, and water regularly to keep evenly moist
  • Try to keep water off leaves if possible
  • May be propagated from offsets (small plants that grow on runners)
  • Because of the runners, these plants work well in hanging planters
  • Fertilize with organic matter or a weak fertilizer that encourages blooming
  • If growing in a pot, re-pot each spring (they don’t like being pot bound)
  • Mist weekly if growing indoors
