Kniphofia
Kniphofia, also known as Red Hot Poker, is native to Africa. This herbaceous perennial has long narrow, grass-like leaves and feature spikes of upright, brightly colored flowers that rise high above the foliage. As the common name would suggest, Red Hot Poker plants have brightly colored flowers in shades of red, orange and yellow… some varieties are bicolored. These flowers produce quite a bit of nectar and are attractive to bees and humming birds. The fine foliage creates an eye-catching texture contrast with other sun loving perennials.
