Going retro….
It’s interesting how trends come back around. Maybe not even trends; just things that we used to look as part of daily life are now bringing back feelings of nostalgia. It’s the very definition of ‘green’; re-using what was considered trash as a focal piece in your home or garden. One of our new vendors has made a successful livelihood searching flea markets and junk spots for previously unnoticed, under-appreciated treasures such as the sinks in these photos. How I would love to go back in time and save the treasures from our old family shed! You know, the old wagon wheels, the wheelbarrow with it’s rusty blue frame, an old sled, or even better, tattered old picture frames.
People actually spend a lot of time creating the deteriorated look, and to think we all had it in our homes for free at one point! I’m not suggesting we save our old broken Foreman grills or weed-eaters for future generations; we can all admit there is no romance there.
But should someday our grandchildren start delightfully poking around the shed, removing our not-so-gently used recycled grocery bags, maybe we won’t be surprised. Check out our new, old stuff; it’s pretty cool!
