Rose Selection for Spring 2026
Is there anything more lovely than a blooming fragrant rose? They can’t help but elevate whatever space they occupy with their beauty and their sweet floral smell! Whenever I’m walking to and fro around the garden center, I usually make a point to walk past our rose area so I can catch a whiff of them when possible! Lucky for me (and for you), our rose area is especially fragrant and beautiful right now, as we are currently well stocked with all kinds of unique rose variations that will do well in our area! Here’s a few good vocabulary words to keep in your back pocket as you read through our selection:
Hybrid Tea Roses: If you were to close your eyes and try to picture a rose – you would probably be imagining a hybrid tea rose! They have a classic and elegant shape with a high center and usually grow 4-5 feet tall. These roses grow on a single stem – making them a perfect cut flower for a bouquet. The first hybrid tea plant was developed in 1867 and was created to combine the re-blooming nature of the Chinese tea roses with the hardiness of hybrid perpetuals! Interesting note: Chinese tea roses and hybrid tea roses are named for their flower fragrance, which many thought had a tea-like scent.
Floribunda: Floribunda Roses are known for their abundant blooms, vibrant colors, ease of care, and compact bushy growth habit with sprays of blooms shooting off just one stem! They are a result of the hybridization of the Hybrid Tea and Polyantha Roses!
Self Cleaning: If a rose variety is referred to as self cleaning that means it requires no deadheading or pruning to clean up old blooms or to get roses to bloom again
DR: Disease Resistant
Okay, now let’s dive a little more into some of the details of our spring rose selection for 2026!
